Paul Journeys to Corinth
As Apostle Paul and his brethren continue on route with Paul’s Second Missionary Journey, they traveled on land from Athens to Corinth.
We have examined the impetus for Apostle Pauls second missionary journey, so, now let’s examine the journey itself.
“After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth” (Acts 18:1).
While in Corinth, he met a Jew, Aquila with Priscilla his wife.
“And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them” (Acts 18:2).
Apostle Paul found common ground with Aquila through their occupation. They were tent-makers.
Apostle Paul Uses a Common Interest
Similarly, be vigilant for instances where you share like interest or occupation with other people, even strangers, these could become openings for you to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.
“And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers” (Acts 18:3).
As Paul was “with them” he had the opportunity to share more fully the true-word of God. So too will your similar alignment supplies you with the right environment to share the Word of God with like-minded people.
“And [Paul] reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks” (Acts 18:4).
Observe that wherever Paul was he did the identical thing. Whether he was in Corinth, Athens, Berea, or Thessalonica, he was persuading both Jews and Gentiles that Jesus is the Christ.
“And when Silas and Timotheus [came] from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ” (Acts 18:5).
Did Everyone Accept Apostle Paul’s Sermon?
Everyone will not accept your message. Nevertheless, that shouldn’t stop or prevent you from telling them about the love of Jesus Christ.
Apostle Paul had similar experiences. They rejected his preaching of Jesus Christ and they mocked and stoned him. But he still preached and taught them about Christ Jesus.
“And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles” (Acts 18:6).
Despite, this rejection preach the Word to them, but you shouldn’y linger fake rolex cellini time or remain amongst those that reject your message. Follow Paul’s example.
The quotation immediately above, is packed with info; therefore, let’s spend a little more time dissecting it.
Note the behavior of those persons who dismissed the true-Word of God. Looking at the verse above we see that they “opposed themselves”.
For example, many contemporary Christians will inform us that Jesus Christ is the third personage in the Godhead.
Thus, these Believers who propagate this distortion of the Word of God are opposing themselves. Paul had a similar encounter in Corinth.
A Certain Man’s House
However, the Holy Bible clearly and unequivocally explains that God is a Spirit, (John 4:24). Consequently, there is no person or personage in the Godhead because the Lord God is not a person.
Next, as they “opposed themselves” invariably they also “blasphemed”. Their goal is not to proclaim the truth but to prevent others from believing.
Ignorantly they are functioning as agents of darkness.
As a result, Apostle Paul departed from the presence of those unbelievers to be with Believers.
“And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man’s house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue” (Acts 18:7).
Paul was entertained at Justus’ home. He was a worshipper of God. He knew God.
Formation of the Church
On this, Paul’s Second Missionary Journey, he initiated the formation of the Church in Corinth. Later, he would write two letters to them.
Let’s learn from his experience narrated in the next verse-of-Scripture. It’s here to teach us.
Crispus and his household believed the sermons that Apostle Paul preached about Jesus Christ and they were baptized.
“Many of the Corinthians” heard Paul preached and they too “believed and were baptized”.
“And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized” (Acts 18:8).
Have you ever wondered, “When Should Water Baptism Takes Place?” The Bible teaches us at what time it should happen.
Nevertheless, the Bible teaches that if you believe you should be baptized in water, calling on the name of Jesus Christ.
Yet, today a certain diabolic section of Christendom preach and teach that you only need to “believe”. They loudly proclaim that water baptism is not essential for salvation.
Be Not Afraid But Speak
Water baptism is not an option for Believers! But it is for agnostics. In the bible reference above, note what the “Believers” or “Christians” did.
They undergo baptism in water in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. And your position as a Believer, in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, is incomplete if you haven’t yet experienced water baptism.

And if Paul wasn’t doing the correct thing the Lord would never had spoken to him like he did.
“Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace” (Acts 18:9).
“For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city” (Acts 18:10).
“And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them” (Acts 18:11).
