The Disciples of Jesus Christ Must Go – Exterminate Them!

Saul wasn’t content with just a personal desire to exterminate the disciples of Jesus Christ, but he also wishes to make it legal and acceptable. So, “... Saul, yet breathing out [threats] and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,” (Acts 9:1).

Who are the Disciples of Jesus Christ?

Are all Christians disciples of Jesus Christ? However, we need not guess. Jesus tells us who qualify as his disciples. First, for us to become disciples of Jesus Christ we must hear, receive, and believe his Word. We cannot be his disciples and never hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, or remain unbelievers. "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed",(John 8:31). Second, we must "continue in" the Word of Jesus Christ. The Word is not our thoughts. It's not our pastors' opinion. As a matter of fact, it's nobody's opinion.

A Promise of Better Land for Posterity

Sometimes the promise of God may seem anything but a promise. The Lord promised Abraham the land, yet He wouldn’t allow him “to set his foot on” it, (Acts 7:5).

Would You Consider a Promise That Would Take 400 Years to Come True?

Additionally, not only did the Lord promise Abraham the land but also his posterity. But at that time he had no children.

Work of God or Men?

He cites two examples which ended in futility because the work of God was absent from among them.

First he says: “For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought” (Acts 5:36).
