Is The Holy Ghost Teaching You?

The Holy Ghost is our teacher and counselor. If we listen to Him and obey His instructions we will always, always, have good success.

Apostle Paul, at the start of his Second Missionary Journey, experienced this first hand.

Then came [Paul] to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek” (Acts 16:1).

There he met Timothy. He was highly recommended by the Believers in those parts.

Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium”, (Acts 16:2).

When Paul met him, instantly he knew that he wanted him to accompany them on this second missionary expedition instead of John Mark.

Thus, Doctor Luke writes, “Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek,” (Acts 16:3).

Recall The Motivation For Paul’s First Missionary Journey

Therefore, we are informed by the Scriptures, that the Lord placed the unrest in Apostle Paul’s spirit concerning John Mark because He had prepared Timothy to replace him.

And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem” (Acts 16:4).

As they traveled through the different countries the team of Paul, Silas, Timothy, and the other Believers continued the work that the Lord had sent them to accomplish.

As a result, of their effort and guidance by the Holy Ghost, the Church grew. Therefore, Luke writes:

And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily”, (Acts 16:5).

The Holy Spirit Teaches

You Will Do Strange Things

Note how it grew, it “increased in number daily”. In other words, the number of people that believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ continued to increase every day.

When the Holy Ghost is our instructor and counselor we will experience constant and noticeable success if we obey Him.

Paul and his team experience this type of church-growth.

Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,” (Acts 16:6).

Now, upon reading the verse of Scriptures immediately above many will express amazement! They will express surprise that the Holy Ghost would forbid the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to any group of people.

However, if the Holy Ghost is your teacher you will understand this. Yes, the Holy Ghost is our teacher, but only if we possess Him and allow Him to teach and lead us. This is not automatic and not the experience of all “Christians”.

The main point here, not all “Christians” possess the Holy Ghost. They will announce to all that they have Him, but they cannot sensible pronounce when they got Him.

Biblical Proof that the Holy Ghost is Our Teacher

If you cannot definitively express or articulate the exact date and time that He came to indwell you, according to the Bible, he never came into you.

Why do I say this?

Because the Bible teaches the identical thing. Similarly, because this Ministry of The Word of God does not depend on any one member’s monetary contribution for its continuance, I could free and boldly tell you the truth.

Many pastors and church-leaders wish they could say the exact thing but they will not. They are too afraid that if they do people will be offended and stop attending their assembly.

I have no such concerns. I teach the true Word of God and whether you like or dislike it I will just continue to tell it according to the Bible.

No, this is not my perspective or interpretation of the Scriptures.

First, let’s revisit the initial group of people whom the Holy Ghost indwell after the ascension of Jesus Christ.

Note How the Holy Ghost Who is Our Teacher Comes?

This happened on the Day of Pentecost. Click on the link and read all about it. I wrote about it!  Now, note the following concerning the Believers who received the Holy Ghost.

Why are we aware and those people who were present, aware that the Holy Ghost came? What happened when He came?

Was his advent silent? The indwelling of the Holy Ghost is so unique that you will never forget it.

Having read the Day of Pentecost experience, were you able to identify when the Holy Ghost came into them and what happened when He did?

Second, let’s examine the experience of the newly established church in Samaria. According to the Bible, why could you identify that the Holy Ghost came? What happened?

Can you identify any similarities between when He came at Pentecost and when He came at Samaria? If you can, then you will realize that what I declared at the start is not my opinion but a doctrine of the Word of God.

What Happens When the Holy Ghost Comes?

You must know when He comes to live in you or you are without Him!

Let’s observe a final example of what happens when the Holy Ghost comes to inhabit a Believer or Believers.

In this respect, let’s scrutinize Cornelius’ experience with Him!  You will also find it Acts 10:1-48.

How did Peter and the other apostles with him know that Cornelius and his household received the Holy Ghost?

How is their experience similar, if not identical, to both the apostles’ at Pentecost and to the Believers’ in Samaria?

If you could identify it, so too could those who had this experience.

However, “After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not,” (Acts 16:7).

When you are a student of the Holy Ghost and obeys Him, He directs you. And acting contrary to His directive always spells trouble for us. Follow Him! Obey Him!

And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas”, (Acts 16:8).

Conclusion

The Holy Ghost is our teacher in all things. All things!

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” (John 14:26).

So, we see that He will instruct us about any problem, any challenge and situation for which we need answers.

However, His instruction is not on auto-pilot! We must initiate this by asking Him to intervein on our behalf.

Last night, relative to my current time of writing, I put this into practice. I wanted to find a password and email address that I had written on a scrap of paper, but I couldn’t locate it.

Consequently, I asked the Holy Ghost to reveal to me where the bit of paper was.

I requested, “Holy Spirit reveal the paper to me dear, Lord.

In my spirit, He spoke, “on the floor behind you”.

I Have Utilized This Principle for More Important Things

However, I had looked there before and didn’t see it. Nevertheless, I obeyed Him and sure enough, it was there.

The tiles on my floor are white and the paper is white too. Therefore, I had easily overlooked it against the white background.

But the Holy Spirit guided me and I found the paper. I was happy.

I have utilized this principle for far more important things. And any time I can’t remember something, I ask the Holy Spirit to remind me and He always brings it to my remembrance, John 14:26.

Do you have a situation that you need assistance with? Ask the Holy Ghost for help! He will assist you.

Finally, in any situation allow the Holy Ghost to teach and counsel you. If you do, you will always have good success!

Blessings!!
