What’s in a Name
Christ Jesus gave 144, 000 Jews the seal of his Father’s name in their foreheads. The Second Beast of Revelation Chapter Thirteen gave the nations of the earth a seal of his name in their foreheads as a travesty of Christ’s actions.
“And deceive them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live, Revelation 13:14.
The advent of the Second Beast reveals striking similarities to Biblical characters. He has succeeded in deceiving the world that he is Christ by his miracles. Now he wants all the nations to worship an idol of Satan. This scenario is reminiscent of one in the Scriptures, three Jewish men refused to worship a golden image of a king and were thrown into a very hot furnace, Daniel 3:1-30.
The fact that the Second Beast “had power to do” miracles “in the sight of the beast” tells us something. Another way to say this, the Second Beast could only do miracles in the eyes or approval of the Beast. Therefore, this makes the Second Beast a representative of Satan as was the First Beast.
“And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed,” Revelation 13:15.
The Mark of Two Names – One Name is Life The Other is Death
Another way the Second Beast operates similar to Biblical characters concerns the actions of Christ Jesus. Christ sent his angels and seal the 144, 000 people in their foreheads. The Beast is causing the peoples of the earth to receive the number of his name in their foreheads.
“and he caused all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads, ” Revelation 13:16.
The seal the 144, 000 received was a name. Similarly, the mark, the Second Beast caused the peoples to receive is also a name:
“And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name,” Revelation 13:17.
Comparing the two scenarios: the 144, 000 that received the seal of God in their foreheads and could not be hurt by the hideous swarms of locusts; they reigned with Christ for a time with his Father’s name sealed on their foreheads; the people of the earth who did not receive the mark of the name would die because they could not purchase any goods or services. This is Satan’s travesty of love and of grace.
One Name is Love and rescues the other is anger and condemns
Finally, Satan continues to make a travesty of Christ Jesus and his actions. The seal of the 144, 000 was sealed in their foreheads with the name of the Lamb’s Father, Revelation 14:1. The Mark of the Beast in the hands and foreheads of the people of the earth is the seal of the Beast’s name, this is the name of Satan.
“Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six,” Revelation 13:18.
The Believers who lived during the Great Tribulation – not the Church – will endure terrible times. Those that accepts Satan’s name (the Mark 666) will not reign with Christ Jesus. To reign with Christ one must have the seal of his Father’s name on your forehead.
“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years,” Revelation 20:4.
In closing, today, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God; receive a revelation of his name; believe and obey Jesus’ words for salvation, his Gospel . Then receive his Holy Spirit so that later you can reign with him. Jesus Christ defeated Satan when he rose from the dead. We have victory over him when we believe on Jesus Christ and obey his words. Believe Jesus toady and inherit eternal life.
The name of your God is of paramount importance because your relationship with Him starts when you know his name. His name is Christ Jesus.
