The Souls of the Righteous

Souls of Righteous Under Altar

Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to stop by for Revelation Bible Study, Christ Jesus Reveals Details About the Souls of the Righteous. I hope that through this Bible Study I will answer: Where are the Souls of the Righteous? Today, our reference is Revelation 6:9 – 11.

“And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held,” Revelation 6:9.

There are “Christians” whom believe man does not have a soul and his soul does not go to heaven but here John tells us otherwise. The souls of men are indeed the “inner man” because John recognized Christians killed by their souls. John the Divine continues to reveal what he saw in heaven by introducing “the altar.” This is the first time an altar is mentioned in Revelation, I wonder about its importance to what John saw and to the souls of man. John also tells us where all the souls of martyrs hang out, under the altar. Apparently, only the righteous who were killed for the Word of God and the testimony that Jesus Christ “live” “under the altar”. Where are the souls of other Believers?

“And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?” Revelation 6:10.

Christ Jesus Clothed the Souls of Righteous Under the Altar

According to the conversation of the souls of the martyrs, we understand that God has a judgment reserved for the killers of the righteous. Additional, despite the righteous being physically dead their souls are alive and are conscious of their surroundings exactly how the physical body would perceive their environment. Recall, man was made in the image of God. Like God, the souls of men are eternal because they never die but where they spend, eternity is your decision.

“And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled,” Revelation 6:11.

Christ promised to clothe the over comer in white. He demonstrated this by clothing the souls of Christians in righteousness. Additional, the inhabitants of earth are still killing God’s servant. The souls of the righteous were appeased with clothes of white and information they will be avenged soon as a group.

Christ Jesus Confirmed the Souls of Righteous Dead are in Heaven

We know the souls of Abraham and Lazarus were in Paradise. However, this verbal exchange between souls of Christians and Christ Jesus confirmed that the souls of the righteous dead are in heaven. John the Divine spoke of an “altar” in heaven. The Sanctuary or Tabernacle Moses commissioned the Children of Israel to build got its blueprint from heaven, Exodus 27:8. Therefore, it has identical furniture to those in the heavenly sanctuary, the altar is one of them.

The Lord requires the righteous blood of Christians “shed” on the earth from the killers, Luke 11:51. John “saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held.” This is the first time I read of anything being “under” the altar before, the sacrifice was always placed on the altar. Only the ashes of the burnt offering are under the altar.

Finally, Christ Jesus sees Christians killed for their faith in him as spiritual sacrifices. Spiritually, when the righteous are killed in the earth they are placed on the altar in heaven. Spiritually, their death is a burnt offering; spiritually, the ashes of  the burnt offerings are souls of  the righteous and that is why the souls of these Believers are “under the altar” and not on it; that is why the souls of the righteous enquired about, avenging their blood on them that live on the earth.

In closing, Christians receive rewards in heaven because they were sacrificed for their faith in Jesus Christ. You will receive your reward from Christ our King, if you sanctify your body as the temple of the Lord and maintained it as such. You cannot accomplish that on your own. Therefore, accept Jesus Christ, as your Lord and Savior and he will supply the power of His resurrection to do  this, preserve, guide and to teach you.

The souls of Believers are crying out in heaven to Christ Jesus, “How long, O Lord, holy and true”, and he will avenge them. For he proclaimed, “that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar,” Matthew 23:35. The souls of Christians are in heaven. Where are the souls of unbelievers?
