The Grace of God

The Grace of God is Not Automatic

To be freely justified by the grace of God we must believe in Jesus Christ. The grace of God is not automatic. Believers access the grace of God through believing in Christ. When Believers put on Christ and are under the authority of his name and the power of his Spirit we experience the grace of God, Romans 3:21-26.

To be justified by faith every person needs to believe, to obey and to do the commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sanctification and of justification are awarded to the Believer by the grace of God. Believers are “justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,” Romans 3:24.

“God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished,” Romans 3:25.

However, the world can only access and benefit from the grace of God only through believing in Jesus Christ. By believing in Jesus we are “freely” justified by the grace of God. This is not because of our righteousness or anything that we have done; it’s the gift of God. Jesus became our “propitiation” for sin. We should have died for our sins but Jesus took our place instead, Titus 3:4-7.

“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also,” James 2:26.

Justified by the Grace of God: Believe, Obey and Do

Don’t be deceived Believers cannot benefit from anything God has for us if we are unbelievers. God is a Spirit, John 4:24. We cannot see Him but if we believe, according to His Words, we shall be “freely” justified by the grace of God. To be “freely” justified by the grace of God every person needs to believe, obey and do the commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ.

You may believe, you could make your livelihood by singing because you know you are a great singer. Singers have told you, you have a great voice. However, you do nothing to start or to advance your singing career. What would you achieve as a singer? NOTHING!  However, you believed and others believed you sing well. What went wrong? Nothing, you only believed in your talent as a singer.

This is pretty much how faith alone is useless in justifying the Believer. To be of any use to anyone faith in God, by Jesus Christ, must marry relevant actions. We believe God’s Words; we obey them by doing as we are instructed by the Word of God, then we are in good standing with Him; then we are justified by the grace of God.

“Is he the God of the Jews only? Is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith,” Romans 3:29-30.

Observe the language, “shall justify”, it is futuristic because it will happen later. Justification occurs at precisely the time you are Born Again.

See your faith as the teacher or instructor in a classroom scenario. The instructions are the Word of God. The pupils are the Believers of Jesus Christ. The examination or the test, is believing Jesus for the Baptism of His Holy Spirit.

Spirit of Christ “Freely” Justified by the Grace of God

The Teacher instructs the class to believe on Jesus for the Promise of the Father. He also tutors the students, that by receiving the Holy Spirit, they shall be justified by Christ. Now let’s look at the examination. Passing the test is receiving the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. The entire class sat the exam and all the pupils passed.

What is the role of the teacher, the instructions and the students? The teacher’s role (faith) is to present the instructions (the Word of God) and motivate the class (the Church), that they will pass this test (receive the Holy Ghost) because they are well prepared.  The teacher did not take or passed the exam. No.

The students’ role is to transform the teacher’s instructions (instruction of faith) into appropriate answers and pass the test. The reward for both the teacher and the students is the passing of the test, the receipt of the Holy Spirit.

This is similar to how faith justifies the Believer. It only serves to move the Believer into a place and position to receive the Holy Ghost. Nevertheless, it is not faith,  nor the Word of God which justified the Believer but the advent of the Spirit of Christ and by his Spirit we are “freely” justified by the grace of God. It is our faith in Jesus, through God’s Word which inform us of Jesus role in declaring ”the remission of sins that are past,” “through the” goodness ”of God”.

In closing, a student cannot pass his examination without some instruction. Similarly, a Believer needs faith in God through instruction in righteousness to receive justification from the Lord Jesus Christ. Faith is essential to receive the Holy Ghost. The Teacher (faith) taught the class but he did not sit the test neither did he pass the examination.  However, it is not the instructions, which passed the test. No, it was the pupil. The Teacher, the instruction and pupil are important in the whole scenario.  They brought the Believer to the Lord to be “freely” justified by the grace of God, through the Holy Ghost.
