Seed of a Woman

Jesus shall Born Seed of a woman

Genesis records the first Messianic Prophecy, Jesus shall be born the seed of a woman, Genesis 3:15. This prophecy of Christ was made subsequent to the fall of mankind: the fall of Adam and Eve in Eden.

First Messianic Prophecy – Seed of a Woman to Bruise Him

“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel,” Genesis 3:15.

The Lord established by this Scripture that He shall institute “enmity” between Satan and the woman (Eve); between the “seed” of the serpent (Satan) and “her seed”; the seed of a woman “shall bruise” the “head” of the serpent and the serpent “shall bruise” his head”.

Messianic Prophecy - The See of a Woman -  Fulfillment

This Messianic Prophecy fulfilled when Mary gave birth to Jesus.

“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn,” Luke 2:7.

Other Messianic Prophecies intimately related to this one would include the place of Jesus birth, time of birth and born of a virgin. I shall look at each in turn.

Scripture records another relevant fulfillment of this Messianic Prophecy in Galatians 4:4.

“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,” Galatians 4:4.

The fulfillment of this Messianic Prophecy, Jesus being the “Seed of a Woman” is very important.

However, no other gospel, not Matthew, not Mark and certainly not John records the fulfillment of this Messianic Prophecy. The Gospel of Saint Luke is the only gospel to describe its fulfillment, Luke 2:7.

The fulfillment of this Messianic Prophecy, Jesus being the “Seed of a Woman” is very important. This Messianic Prophecy fulfillment validates the prophecy made thousands of years before. Through this prophecy and its fulfillment, we know (without any doubts) that Joseph could not and was not Jesus’ natural father. Through this prophecy and its fulfillment, we also realize that God’s Words are sure. This prophecy was long but certain.

By this prophecy and its fulfillment, the Lord joined the generation of man. Heavenly DNA was fused with the Seed of a woman to produce Jesus the Son of God. Ordinarily, the seed of a man join with the seed of a woman to produce a child, not this time. The Holy Ghost became that seed which joined with the seed of a woman (Mary) to produce Jesus.

This prophecy and its fulfillment ensure that Jesus was born without sin. Therefore, his blood was sinless blood, the type necessary to atone for the sins of humanity.
