The Lord Spoke a Word

Welcome to you, to our Book of Acts Bible Study,  Apostle Paul: “275 Passengers on a Ship Saved by a Fellow Passenger .” Today, we are at part 4 of 4 of  Acts Chapter Twenty Seven, Acts 27:30 – 44, Bible Study.

The Lord spoke a word of wisdom and prophecy, via Apostle Paul, to the hopeless passengers of a ship.

The sailors were “about to” abandon the ship. They, however, pretended they were going to drop “anchors” from the front of the ship. Therefore, they lowered a boat into the sea, Acts 27:30.

Apostle Paul by the Spirit of the Lord Jesus saw their intention and told the centurion, “Except these abide in the ship” you “cannot be saved,” Acts 27:31. Then Julius severed the ropes of the boat and it fell into the sea below, Acts 27:32.

At dawn, Apostle Paul encouraged everyone to eat.  He told them it was for their “health” for no one shall sustain hurt, Acts 27:33 – 34. Having spoken to the passengers about eating Apostle Paul did just that: He took food blessed it and as they watched he began to eat, Acts 27:35.

The Lord’s Word Came True

“Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat,” Acts 27:36.

After everyone ate they further “lightened the ship” by throwing the wheat into the sea, Acts 27:38.

At daybreak they did not recognize the island: but found a river with a “shore” into which they intended to run the ship “aground”, Acts 27:39. Therefore, they got the ship ready and “made towards shore,” Acts 27:40.

“And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves,” Acts 27:41.

When the soldiers saw this they spoke of killing “the prisoners”, thinking some may swim away and “escape” Acts 27:42. However, Julius, the centurion, “willing to save Paul” commanded his soldiers not to kill the prisoners. He also proposed a plan to get to shore. Julius “commanded” that all persons who could swim should first swim to land.

The Lord Makes Provision to Preserve Apostle Paul’s Life

Then Julius proposed that the remainder should get to land by any means possible “on board” or “on pieces of ship”. In this way, they all “escaped” safely to shore, Acts 27:44.

None of Apostle Paul words dropped to the ground. Everything he told them came true; the cargo was lost; the ship was destroyed; they were shipwrecked on an island and nobody was hurt or died. In Paul’s words, “there shall not an hair FALL from the head of ANY of you,” Acts 27:34.

A genuine Man of God is a representative of the kingdom of heaven. The Lord of heaven honors the words of the Man of God and brings them to pass on the earth. This is foolishness to the world but eternal life to the Believers of Christ.

Observe how the Lord makes provision to preserve Apostle Paul’s life through Julius, the centurion. If any prisoner escaped, the soldier on duty is accountable to the king and the governor or the king could order his death. However, if any escape because of a direct command from the centurion the soldier is free. The Lord kept all prisoners from escaping because Julius purposed to keep Paul alive. If you obey the Lord’s words or His servant’s He’ll make a way for you but He works through relationships and human interactions. Is the Lord Jesus working through your social interactions with others?
