Christ Spoke Healing Words to the Sick
After Christ spoke healing words to the man with leprosy (the Leper), and he was cleansed of his disease, Matthew 8:1-4 With his words, Jesus also healed the Centurion’s servant, Matthew 8:5-14 and Luke 7:1-10. A centurion, is a Roman Officer in charge of one hundred soldiers, see Mark 15:39, Acts 10:1; 21:32 and 27:11.
As Jesus was entering Capernaum, a Centurion came to him “beseeching him”, for healing for his servant who was at his house sick of “palsy”. Jesus agrees to go to his house he said, “I will come and heal him,” Matthew 8:7. However, the Roman Officer declined Jesus’ offer to visit his house.
The Centurion refused Jesus’ offer to visit his house but accepted a healing word from Christ. This officer, being a “man under authority”, recognized another person who has power and authority when he encounters him. Therefore, this Roman Officer said to Jesus, “speak the word only and my servant shall be healed,” Matthew 8:8.
Jesus was very impressed with this officer’s confidence in his ability and power. Therefore, Christ said, “I have not found so great faith, no not in Israel,” Matthew 8:10. Subsequently, Jesus said to the Centurion, go home, because of your confidence in me, your servant is healed, Matthew 8:13. The Roman Officer went home and found his employee well again, Matthew 8:13.
Christ Healing Words are Powerful
Jesus speaks, touches or both and miracles happen. However, Christ does not need to touch a sick person for miracles to happen. Christ healing words are powerful enough, by themselves, to achieve his desires. Recall, the LORD Jesus created the earth and all its content by speaking, John 1:1-3, 10 -14. Whenever, Jesus speaks the entire kingdom of heaven (kingdom of God) supports his word.
Jesus healed the Leper by speaking. Christ told the Leper, you are clean, and immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy, Matthew 8:3.
By Jesus’ actions, miracles happen. He multiplied seven loaves and a few fishes by speaking, by breaking the “bread” and telling his disciples what to do. Again, Jesus by his words and actions multiplied five loaves and two small fishes by speaking and doing, Matthew 14:15-21.
The Centurion knows because of Jesus authority and power he does not need not to be physically present at his house to heal his sick servant.
Christ’s Healing Words Heal Immediately
Jesus told the Centurion, his servant is healed according to his faith. Jesus is sending this very word to you : you are healed according to your faith. Whenever Jesus speaks a word, his entire kingdom backs up that word. You are not healed if you failed to believe Jesus word.
Finally, Jesus Christ speaks healing words to the sick. Whenever the LORD speaks or touches a sick person, that person is immediately healed. By his touch or by his word the LORD Jesus transferred our sicknesses and our diseases to his body. Anyone who touched him is immediately healed of any sicknesses or diseases. Jesus bears our sicknesses and disease in his body.
Jesus’ first advent happens because of love, John 3:16. He did not touch the people he heal to demonstrate love. He displayed his love for the world when he suffered and died on that cruel cross. Jesus whole mission is one of love.
There was an Israelite woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years. She touched Jesus Christ and was healed immediately because Christ’s body absorbed her sickness and “virtue left him”, when she touched him.
Christ’s words are healing to the sick but death to him. Jesus took all our “sickness” and all our “infirmities” and carries them in his body to his cross, Matthew 8:17 and 1 Peter 2:24. Jesus Christ healing words of death is the reason we live and he died, he died that we might live.
