The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ

Great Drops of Jesus’ Blood Fell to the Ground

While Jesus was at the Mount of Olives (with his disciples) he prayed: “And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground,” Luke 22:44. This happened just prior to Judas’ kiss of betrayal.

If someone platted a crown of thorns and placed it on your head then hit you on your head with a stick do you think you would bleed? This was exactly what the “whole band of soldiers” did  to Jesus Christ. Soldier after soldier hit him on his head with the “reed”.  By the time they were finished hitting him Jesus was bleeding from his head. By hitting him on the head the soldiers were hitting the thorns into his skull. Matthew 27:29 – 30  &  Mark 15: 17 -19. What are your thoughts on this? What do you think happened? Don’t hesitate to leave your comments!

After the  “whole band of soldiers” mocked, ridiculed and tortured Jesus he was by then bloody, then they crucified him. Again, while he was been crucified they shed his precious atoning blood when they nailed his hands and feet to the cross, Matthew 27:31, 35.

During Jesus’ crucifixion the Roman soldiers nailed his feet together on the cross. Each of his hands was also nailed to that cruel tree. This was not a “pretty”  death it was bloody. But all this blood was shed so the world could be reconciled to God by Jesus Christ. Can you imagine the blood flowing from Jesus’  head, his hands, his feet and his side, flowing down his body on to the cross and down on to the ground. Some people cannot image this much less to believe, they are like one of Jesus’ disciples, Thomas. Do you believe this account of his crucifixion?

Jesus stabbed in the side blood and water gushed out of the wound

After Jesus resurrection he appeared to many of his disciples in a room but Thomas was absent. When he was told that the LORD was resurrected he said:  “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe,” John 20:25, John 20:20.

Finally, the blood of Jesus was shed in one other incident. John is the only Gospel to record this happening. While Jesus and the other two men - who were crucified on either side of him  – were on the cross, the soldiers came to break their legs. They broke the legs of the other two men but when they got to Jesus he was already dead. One of the soldiers was very angry Jesus was dead.  He was having  fun  hearing the men scream as their legs were being broken. But Jesus was dead, so in anger he stabbed Jesus in his side with his spear and instantly blood and water gushed out of the wound, John 19:34.   Please share your thoughts on this subject in your comments. Thank you.

Jesus blood was also shed when the soldiers nailed him to the cross

In closing, the LORD Jesus bled in the Mount of Olives, in the “common hall” of the Romans as  the “whole band of soldiers” mocked, and tortured him. His blood was also shed when the soldiers nailed him to the cross. Finally, after he  gave up the ghost, a soldier who enjoyed hurting others pierced him in his side with a spear and blood and water ran out of his wound.

By these cruel and inhumane acts the precious, sinless and redeeming blood of Jesus Christ was shed that it be available to the High Priest to atone for the sins of the world.

At some places I went to, that was the best part of the meal.

I hope you don’t eat blood for that is one thing the Lord commands us not to eat for it’s the life of the animal, Acts 15:29-29
. Blessings
