Touching Jesus For Virtue For Healing
Jesus Christ by the laying on of his hands teaches Believers he was willing to heal the sick and to do so with compassion; lay your hands for the little children’s sake; to have faith in God at the touch of his hands; by faith when we touch him we are healed; by touching Jesus we receive virtue for healing (Matthew 8:3) and to lay our hands on the Belivers when we pray for them.
“So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him,” (Matthew 20:34).
Jesus Had Compassion on Them
Believers can learn much from our Master Teacher, Jesus Christ. He had compassion on the blind men who begged him to restore their sight, (Mark 1:41;Matthew 20:34).
Sometime we should show mercy to others without being asked. Sometimes, all we need in order to demonstrate compassion is to see a need. For example, each day, on your way to work, you take the subway (train) and there is an old man always asking for food or money give to him whatever you can without being asked. Have compassion on him, give freely to him.
Some needs are evident on sight. A person who is in great need will not refuse help even if he never asked. A person who is in need of clothing will display that need in the manner of dress. Needs are coward they are afraid to travel alone. A person who is destitute for food maybe lacking for other basic things, like clothes, too. These are persons we can bless without laying our hands on them by supplying there basic needs for food and clothes.
Jesus: Lay Your Hands on Little Children
As Jesus Christ did so should Believers do everywhere. His disciples were angry and “rebuked” people who brought their little children for him to lay his hands on them, (Mark 10:13; 18:15). Do not baptize them but lay hands on them and pray. But a displeased Jesus would not allow that for he instructed them to allow little children to come to him because their coming to him is liken to a Believer coming to the Kingdom of God.
“And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them,” Mark 10:16.
Jesus: According to Your Faith
The two blind men who worshipped Jesus and begged him to restore their sight did so in faith. Jesus Christ confirmed this when he asked them, do you believe “I am able to do this?” They replied yes, Lord.
When Believers are in the assembly and come up for Officers of the Church to lay their hands on them they should come believing Jesus for their needs to be supplied. Jesus teaches Believers, our blessing, at the time of the laying on of hands, is according to our faith, Matthew 9:27-29.
The Lord Jesus Christ also teaches faith is a must to receive anything from God. Faith in God, through Jesus Christ, is so fundamental to Believers’ walk as Christians and to his healing, Jesus would even accept faith in him by proxy, (Mark 2:5;Luke 5:20). The man with the palsy, was healed not because of his faith alone. The Lord healed him because of a combined display of his faith and that of the people who carried him to Christ for “when he saw their faith” he forgave his sins and healed him.
By saying, “according to your faith be it unto you,” Jesus is teaching us the importance of faith at the time of the laying on of hands. If those blind men faith in Jesus Christ was say twenty five per cent (25%) that is how much of their sight would be restored. But because they had no doubts – 100 % confidence – Jesus was able to restore their sight for they were completely healed.
If I May But Touch Jesus
Jesus teaches, Believers, people are healed by the laying on of the Believer’s hands according to the receipient’s faith. But this belief in God works both ways. We observe from Scriptures people are healed at the point in time Jesus laid his hand or hands on them. However, Jesus teaches us, they can also be healed if they touch him instead. Their faith will transfer the healing just at the point their body make contact with him or his clothes, (Matthew 9:20-21;14:36;Mark 3:10; 5:27-30;6:56;Luke 8:44).
Believers, as Jesus Christ did so can we. People are healed at the point our hands make contact with their bodies by faith in God. If we are living in God’s will we do not even need to touch them for healing to occur. That also mean we do not “push” them slightly or otherwise when we lay hands on them. But by their touching our clothing or our body they can be healed, according to their faith in God.
Our faith in God must be complete, absolute. The woman with the issue of blood said, I know if Jesus lays his hands on me I shall be well again. But she also recognized she was behind him, there was a crowd and she was weak. So she concluded, if I may but touch his clothes I shall be well again and she did and was made “whole.”
Virtue has Gone out of Jesus
Finally, while the laying on of hand by faith in God, through Jesus Christ, is crucial in receiving from the Lord, this is not enough. Jesus teaches virtue is significant. When Jesus touched or laid his hands on people he transferred virtue to those who need healing. Similarly, those who touched him by faith cause virtue to flow from Jesus to them and are healed, Mark 5:30.
This is exactly how we effect healing of others as Believers in Jesus Christ. By the laying on of Believers’ hand on another persons the virtue of Christ which is in us flows to those persons and Jesus heals them completely.
So in closing, let us lay our hands on others with compassion in our heart and not pride. Let us lay holy hands on our children calling on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ for their blessings. Let us do all our acts , as Believers, with faith in God through Jesus Christ not doubting but having total, complete and absolute confidence in God. Our faith in God will assure us that if we touch Him and others touch us they will be healed. They are made whole not by our power but by the virtue of Jesus Christ that resides in us which flows to others when we lay our hands on them.
“1Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ,” (2 Peter 1:1-8).
