Soldiers of Jesus Christ War Not Against People

Jesus Christ is a present help in trouble.  Deuteronomy chapter twenty verses one to twenty,Deuteronomy 20:1-20, explains how the Lord prepares His people for war with the enemies. While we may not fight war in this fashion anymore nevertheless, we are at war everyday against  the powers of hell.

The children of Israel, (Israel) seems to have thing backwards, whoever, goes to a priest for war council? One usually seeks war advise from war veterans. But be not dismayed for a priest of the living God is constantly involve in warfare.  On a daily basis he is involved in a war. The priest of God maybe more adept at war than the best war general. Daily, the priest of the Most High God is involve in spiritual warfare against the power of darkness, Satan. He fights in a war where his opponent is invisible. Which is more difficult, fighting a enemy you can see or fighting one you cannot see? I think the latter is harder.

As the time of war approaches the priest of the Lord God, shall speak to the warriors. What is he saying? He says:

  • You will engage your enemies in war today.
  • Let not your hearts faint.
  • Do not be afraid, fear not.
  • Do not tremble.
  • Do not be terrified of them.

Why?

  1. The Lord goes with you in this fight.
  2. The Lord will fight against your enemies to save you.

So the Lord employs His priest first then the “officers” of war to speak to the army. The Lord, by the officers, selects those who can fight a good fight and send home the others because the glory of the war must be for Jesus.

Who do soldiers of Jesus Christ war or battle with?

After the officers spoke to the soldiers, and those who should leave, left, then he selected  captains of the army to lead the people. Who do soldiers of Jesus Christ war or battle with? “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”, Ephesians 6:12.

To be a soldier of Jesus Christ one has to be focused. The “officers” of war send everyone home who wanted to be home. Each of those that returned home had a possible distraction in his life. One cannot enter into war with anything on his mind but victory.

The priest prepared the soldiers spiritually. The officers prepared them for the natural things. Soldiers of Jesus Christ must be balanced. An unbalanced soldier is distracted and inefficient in battle because he is more focus on his distractions that the war. Everything must be in moderation.

As soldiers of Jesus Christ we must be sharp and vigilant at all times.  This  conditions speaks of the speed and ease our spirit are able to discern evil disguised as good. And there are some very clever disguises out there.

Soldiers of Jesus Christ must enter into warfare protected.  Christian soldiers must put on the “whole armour of God.” Going into any spiritual war it is important to know you are not alone. Know that the Lord goes with you into each fight. So, enter into warfare with full assurance that Jesus is with you as you put on the complete armour of God. Be strong in Jesus and the power of his might. Let us put on the complete armour of God “to stand” against all the devil will throw at us. Stand against all his deception, all his trickery, stand by faith.

Soldiers of Jesus Christ Put on Complete Armour of God Before War

First, have your waist belted with “truth”. Second, put on the “breastplate” of righteousness. Third, put on the  shoes of the gospel of peace. Fourth, above all the other pieces of  armour take the “shield of faith”. Even, if you do not have any belt, no breastplate, no shoes, no helmet, no sword you must have a shield for by faith everything is possible if we only believe. Fifth, put on the “helmet” of salvation. Finally, “take the sword of the Spirit”, this is the Word of God. I have heard preachers say the “sword” is the only offensive piece in the armoury. But that is not true. An experienced  seasoned soldier will use the shield as both an offensive and a defensive weapon. He can use the shield to attack and to defend himself. For example, when the circumstances are stacked against you and it seems one more blow from the devil will topple you over, hold up that heavy shield of faith because God is with you, you are not alone. Although your shield may seems heavy and battered NEVER stop believing that Jesus Christ will never leave you nor forsake you. He promised to be with you always to the very end.

Offensively, you maybe in a situation where everyone is saying, you will fail and you cannot succeed and everything around you appears that way too. But know this one thing, the Lord God is with you to fight against your enemies to save you. So, press on despite what others say. Press on despite how difficult and futile the situation looks for we walk my faith and not by sight.

Finally, the Lord  tells you all this before you engage in war.  You must always enter into war with full assurance of victory. It is not a situation of, you win some and you loose some. No. Why? Two reasons. One, the Lord Jesus Christ goes with you into the fight.  Two, you win them all because  Jesus is with you to fight against your enemies to save you. Where is failure in that?  There is no failure in Jesus Christ only victory by faith.
