New Bodies After Death
After a person dies the body is usually buried in the ground. But whatever is done to the physical body is not important. The corpse may be eaten by creatures in the sea, in the wild or even burnt. But after death we will not possess the same physical bodies. What do you think, really, happen after you die? The important thing to note is the final destination of the soul, 1 Corinthians 15:35 – 58.
Let us look at Luke 16:19-30. According to this block of scriptures both men, (the beggar Lazarus and the rich man), died and were buried. The grave is not hell. Lazarus “was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom”. But where was Abraham? Was he in Heaven? We know from scriptures that Abraham was dead too. He died many, many hundreds of years prior to this incident. Jesus was born many, many years after Abraham died. It was the soul of Lazarus that the angels carried to Abraham not his body. His body had decayed.
According to Luke 16:23-31: The rich man saw Abrahamin the distance, and “Lazarus in his bosom”. ” And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and “And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.”
Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”
All the persons spoken of in this scripture were able to see and communicate by speaking with each other. So we can conclude they were in the same location but NOT the same place. This observation is borne out by Luke 16:26 above.
Death is Not Final
Death is not final. Death is a doorway into the after life. In fact we never really die. Death is the departure of the spirit of man from his physical body. After you die, that is, the spirit leaves the body the spirit lives on. The spirit never dies. It is on this basis, we can say death is not final. Both spirit and body would have to die for that to be so. That can never happen.
Immediately, at death a person’s soul is escorted by angels into the after life to torments or bliss. The final destination, after you die, is contingent on how one lived. If a person, during his lifetime, obeyed Satan when he dies his soul is escorted into torments. On the other hand, if he believed and obeyed the Gospel of Jesus Christ, his soul is carried, by angels of God into paradise.
If death were final there would be no reason to live. Death only solve this life problem because they cease when we ceased to breathe. But it does not solve this problem: “where will you (your soul) spend eternity, in flames with Satan or with Christ?” But by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ there is hope for the dead in Christ. Christ is our perfect example. He’s the ONLY person who conquered death, hell and Satan. He’s the only person who died and live forever. By studying his life we learn from his teachings what happens after a person dies. If in this life only we have hope we would be a people most miserable.
